Write a paragraph on Gandhi,Jagadish C.h Bose, Bankim Chandra, Vivekananda, Vidyasagar. Mahatma Gandhi (MG) was a leader of the Indian independence movement, known for his philosophy of non-violence and civil disobedience. Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose (JCB) was a pioneering scientist whose research in biophysics and radio technology earned him global recognition.

Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay (BCC) was a renowned writer and poet, best known for penning the iconic song “Vande Mataram.” Iswarchandra Vidyasagar (ICV) was a social reformer and educator who played a crucial role in promoting women’s education and widow remarriage in India.

Swami Vivekananda (SV) was a spiritual leader and philosopher who introduced Indian philosophies like Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world and inspired countless people through his teachings on self-development and national pride.

YOUR FAVOURITE AUTHOR

I am a voracious reader. The reading of novels and stories is my hobby also. I pass my leisure in reading. I have read the works of many including Bankimchandra, Rabindranath, Saratchandra, Tarasankar, Bibhutibhusan and many others in the short span of my life. I like all of them but Sarat Chandra is my favourite author. One may like it or not but I am helpless. He has written so many books. They include Ramer Sumati, Bindur Chhele, Mejdidi, Debdas, Parineeta, Srikanta, Pather Dabi, Biraj Bou, Dena Pouna, Datta and many more. He has also written a few wonderful stories like Mahesh, Abhagir Swarga etc.

 

He is so varied and fascinating to me that I have read all these books. He is a keen observer of human life and society. We may call him a sympathetic painter of human life. He has boldly pointed out the evils of social life. To him no human being is untouchable..I love him most because his love for the downtrodden has touched my heart. To him no man or woman is lost for ever. He has made us to love all because none is born a sinner. The society makes a man evil.

Mahatma Gandhi was a great patriot. His full name is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was born on 2 October, 1868 at Porbandar in Gujrat. His father was Kaba Gandhi. He passed the Matriculation Examination in his homeland. Then he went to England and had his Bar-at Law degree from there. Then he went to South Africa. He took to legal practice. There he came across ill treatment by the Europeans. He organised Satyagraha or non-co-operation movement there.

Later in 1915 he returned to India. He could not sit idle. He felt for the countrymen who were suffering under the British rule. He started relentless struggle against the British. In his struggle he never adopted violent means. He conducted his fight in a peaceful manner. He began the Non-co-operation Movement in 1920. In 1930 he started his Salt Campaign and broke the Salt Law. In 1942 came the Quit India Movement. He was jailed many a times. On many occasions he observed fast for launching greater movement. He fell to the bullet of the assassin in 1948 in Delhi.

SIR JAGADISH CH. BOSE

Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose is a familiar name in India. He is one of the best known scientists in India. His fundamental research about plant-life has been universally acclaimed. This noble son of the soil was born in 1858 at Vikrampur in Dhaka. He was a brilliant student. He took his B.A degree from Calcutta University. But his thirst for knowledge did not end there. He went to England. There he had his B.A from Cambridge University and B.Sc. from London University.

Besides academic studies he had been conducting research in plant life. He devoted more and more time in research. Ultimately it yielded result. He was able to prove beyond doubt that plants have life and they feel like man. This startling invention was widely acclaimed. He was invited by in Paris, London and Oxford to deliver lectures on his wonderful researches. This genius was offered C.I.E in 1903, C.S.E in 1911 and “Sir” title By the British Government. He is the path finder in scientific research in India.

BANKIM CHANDRA CHATTOPADHYAY

Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay is known as the Samrat [emperor] of Bengali literature. He was the first to write novel in Bengali. He was also the first to give life to Bengali prose. He was born in 1838 at Kanthalpara in North 24-Parganas. His father was Jadab Chandra Chottopadhyay. This noble son of Bengal had his schooling at Midnapur. Then he attended Hoogly Mohasin and Presidency College. He had the great honour of being the first graduate from Calcutta University.

Then he was appointed as deputy Magistrate. It was the highest honour for a native in British India. He had written 14 famous novels. Bishbriksha, Krishnakanter Will, Rajsingha, Anandamath were some of his greatest writings. He was the great composer of “Bande-Mataram”, the famous song which inspired the Indians through the dark days of British rule. He also demonstrated his skill in writng brilliant proses like Kamalakanter Daptar, Lok-Rahasya.

ISWARCHANDRA VIDYASAGAR

Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar is considered a pioneer in Bengal renaissance. This great man was born in 1820 at Birsingha village of Midnapur. His proud parents were Thakurdas Bandyopadyay and Bhagabati Debi. Though he had his early schooling at his village school, his education was complete in Kolkata. He was a student of Sanskrit College. Later on he became its Principal. His professional life was devoted to education. He also became the Inspector of Schools. His life style was very simple. He was noted for his kindness.

As a social reformer he ushered in a new era in Bengal.It was he who toiled hard to bring about an end to child marriage. He introduced remarriage of widows because he was greatly distressed at the plight of the child -widows. He initiated a literacy drive in those dark days. He was one of the best authors of Bengali literature. He himself wrote books for learning Bengali in a scientific manner. This noble man passed away in 1891.

Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda is the new messiah of Hindu religion. His novel interpretation of Vedanta enlightened the whole world. It startled (4) the mankind. This noble man was born in Kolkata on 12 January, 1863. Biswanath Datta and Bhubaneswari Debi were his parents. In his boyhood he was known as Narendranath. He was a restless but spirited boy with a lot of curiosity. He passed B.A. from Scottish Church College. Then he came in contact with great Ramakrishna.

He had his questions answered from him and became his disciple. Soon he became a monk. He travelled far and wide across India. Then he visited Chicago. As a great orator with profound knowledge he highly impressed his audience. He interpreted Hinduism in a broad and new perspective ( -). He set up Ramakrishna Mission in 1897 at Belur. It was an Institution the like of which was not seen before. It gave concrete shape to the ideals of Swamiji.. Swamiji lives in his deeds. This noble man of the noblest passed away on July 4, 1902.
